Maternity Clothes Recycled

Many socially and environmentally responsible mothers-to-be are seeking ways to align their core values with their purchasing power.  They want to be green, and save money at the same time. Nowhere is the opportunity to do this more available than it is with maternity clothes.

Just think about the idea of maternity clothes for a second. They will probably only be worn for about six months.  They are built to last and expand and they are recyclable in a variety of ways.  Because of the recycling option, maternity clothes need not be a huge cost for the mother-to-be.   So, let’s look at a few way eco-friendly moms-to- be are utilizing the recycling option when expecting baby.

Swap or Trade Maternity Clothes: There are a host of online trading posts for those who want to swap or trade their maternity clothes.  Just Google “Swap maternity clothes” and you will have a multitude of options if you decide to cash in on this very cost effective method of recycling the maternity clothes you have for another’s.

Hand off Maternity Clothes: This might seem similar to swapping or trading, but it’s a little more personal.  Find friends who are expecting just like you are and hand off the outfit you are getting tired of wearing.  The other way to hand off is to let it be known to those far and wide that you are an expectant mother.  It is almost unbelievable how quickly those in the same circumstances flock to your side.

Second Hand or PreLoved Maternity Clothes: Has a sister, sister-in-law, friend, or co-worker just brought a new baby into the world?  She might be a good candidate for this option.   A new mother might be anxious to find a mother-to-be to recycle those maternity clothes with.

Restyled: If hubby has a cool plaid shirt and he is up for it, restyle this men’s larger plaid shirt into a maternity top for you.  There are as many ways to restyle clothes into maternity clothes as your imagination can create.

Keep Them For Next Time: More than likely you will have more than one child.   Don’t make the mistake of getting rid of those gently used maternity clothes.  They will be ready and waiting when that next pregnancy arrives.   Gently used maternity clothes can always be recycled.

Recycling maternity clothes is not really the newest thing under the sun, but there are now many new ways to swap, trade, or hand off those second hand, restyled or gently used maternity clothes.  Keep everything cost- effective and socially responsible at the same time.
