At 28 weeks you have reached a huge milestone: it’s the beginning of the third and final trimester. Start looking forward to your due date!!!
Your baby has now grown to weigh two and a quarter pounds and measures close to fifteen inches from head to toe. She continues to add on more body fat and is developing many neurons in her brain in order to prepare her for life outside of the womb.Your baby has now grown eyelashes and is capable of blinking. As her eyesight further develops she may be able to see any light that comes in through your womb.
During this trimester most women visit their doctor every two weeks. When they reach 36 weeks most doctors recommend going once a week. The doctor may want to test for HIV, syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhea to see how you’re doing before the actual labor. It is very normal to gain an average of 11 pounds during this month.
At this time you may develop a new pregnancy symptom, called restless leg syndrome. This condition causes you to have an urge to move your legs when trying to relax or sleep. Try massaging or stretching your legs and cutting down on caffeine. You should also speak to your doctor and discuss taking iron supplements, this may alleviate some of the pain.
In response to the question, “Is it safe to take hot baths while I’m pregnant? ” – Kathy T. from New Jersey
It is safe as long as the water is not over 100 degrees Fahrenheit. If you have to go into the bath slowly to get used to the hot water it’s too hot. If you can go in right away and the water is comfortable than the water is close to your own body temperature which is good. If it’s too hot it can damage your baby’s developing cells. You can cool off by sweating but your baby can not.
